Contrarian Investing

What is it? A method of investing which involves ignoring market trends and buying neglected and depressed stocks of well-managed companies. Contrarians select the opposite of what most people are investing in at a given time by looking for healthy companies in unpopular industries or overlooked firms. A contrarian adviser tends to buy stocks with low price-earnings ratios (P/Es). Some mutual funds use contrarian investing.
