Dividends Per Share (Div/Shr)
What is it? The dividend, or portion of a companys profit paid to shareholders, divided by the number of common shares outstanding (usually a weighted average of the number of shares outstanding over the reporting period). Some investors believe that the higher the dividend, the more optimistic the companys outlook on its long-term earning power. Growth companies, however, tend to have no or limited dividends in order to put the profits back into the company for continued expansion.Added By: Christopher
