Insider

What is it? An executive or director of a public company who has access to information that has not been released to the public. Because they know more about their company?s fortunes than other people do, insiders must obey Securities and Exchange Commission rules on when they can buy or sell stock in their company. They also must report trades to the SEC. Some investors closely follow insider trades on SEC documents in an attempt to gauge what executives think about the stocks current value.
