What is it? The collection of assets that you have that are not used for everyday living expenses or short-term expenditures (those to be made in less than one year). Retirement accounts such as 401(k)s, IRAs, SEPs, etc. should be included. An investment portfolio may contain Certificates of Deposits, money market accounts, savings accounts, mutual funds, individual stocks and bonds, annuities, real estate (other than your personal residences), collectibles, precious metals, futures and commodities, etc.
