What is it? As determined by fund research firm Morningstar, Inc., a mutual fund that invests in stocks with a median market capitalization of $11 billion or more, that offer a blend of growth and value characteristics. Blend funds typically are less risky than growth funds, and large-cap funds typically are less volatile than mid-cap and small-cap funds. Large companies also are more likely to pay dividends.
