What is it? Charged by some mutual funds to pay for marketing costs. Typical 12b-1 fees range from 0.20% to as much as 1.0%. The fee is included in a funds annual expense ratio. To maximize your returns, you should always look to minimize your fund costs. Funds that do not charge the 12b-1 typically have lower expense ratios.
