Block Trade
What is it? At least 10,000 shares of stock bought or sold by institutional investors. Individual investors sometimes watch block trades to determine a stock?s attractiveness. Rising institutional interest in a stock is a positive sign. But when a block trade comes over the ticker, it doesn?t tell you everything you need to know, such as who bought or sold the stock. The trade could have been between institutions, which should have little affect on the stock?s market price. But if a block is traded on an uptick, it could be a sign that the stock is poised for greater appreciation.Added By: Katie
