Deferred Revenue

What is it? Revenue that is considered a liability until work is rendered. An example of this is where there is upfront payment for work that has not been rendered yet. The payment is applied to the cash account, but at the same time there is a liability for the work that has not yet been rendered. The work then gets rendered against the liability.
